Schmidt & Schmidt provides extracts from the commercial register of Finland with a translation and an apostille.
The Finnish Trade Register is administered by the National Board of Patents and Registration (NBRP) along with the Tax Administration. The Finnish Trade Register is available via the Business Information Service (BIS) – a public information source than contains data about all businesses in the country. Moreover, annual financial statements of most firms are also available in the register.
Submission of data in the register is an obligatory procedure in Finland. There is a considerable number of entries added to the register every year:
- About 30 000 new companies
- About 80 000 changes to registered company details
- About 200 000 annual financial statements
Information has been kept on the register since 1860. The data subject to be submitted to the register is stated in the 1979 Trade Register Act, and the amount of required data depends on the type of business. The aim of the Trade Register is to gather and verify corporate information, provide public access to it, and, as a result, ensure business transparency in the country.

Apostille for extracts from commercial register of Finland
Finland acceded to the The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents on 27 June 1985.
Therefore, the documents issued in Finland are subject to a simplified apostilling procedure, thus the documents gain full legal value in Convention member states after notarised translation.
Apostilling usually takes about two weeks.
In addition, you can order notarised translation from Finnish.
